The St. Denis Basilica

Last Sunday we met up with Gerald and his friend Vincent to tour the Basilica of St . Denis.
Katie Beth and I were impressed by the size of the doors in the local cafe....they are super short!

Here are some of the stain glass windows.
They were extraordinary.
The view from the main entrance doors.
One of the stone panels of the mass grave where the bones of the kings and queens of France were thrown during the revolution. Yes, you are reading correctly. The Sun King, Louis the XIV is on the list.

The side entrance under the rose window...see next photo. This is one of the funerary statues in the background. Notice the size! I think it was Francois 1er? My head was spinning as we realized how much history was held in this building. I felt like I was in a live textbook.
One of the rose windows under construction/being repaired.

On our way back to Paris, I saw this brick design on the side of a school building.
Gerald goofing off behind the camera. His friend Vincent, goofing off with bunny ears behind Gerald. Their website is :

Preview....what is coming up next! The agricultural fair.

Bisous,
p.s. Aunt Charline is on her way out so that is another sneak peak! woo hoo!
