Happy Easter ! (my cuz's birthday and my sis got engaged!)

First of all ... Happy Easter! I hope you had a wonderful Easter I did! We watched the Easter address from Rome and a special on the the Swiss guard who guards the Pope.
I made a rack of lamb and had Easter dinner with friends Paulette and Michael and it was delicious (sorry for the bragging, it really was a wonderful tasty rack of New Zealand Lamb!)

The other news is we celebrated my cousin's birthday here. Photos below. And my sister got engaged! Congratulations Ruth and Freddy! I will ask Freddy if I can link his photos up to this blog....

Here are some more pictures to give you an idea of what I have been up too...

Firstly a last picture from Beligium. This was posted on what I believe is a syngagogue?
Translation: "Do we not all have the same Father? Did not one God create us all? "
I found this engraving to be a strong statement and something on which to meditate.

Here is a photo Gérald took on the Champs Elysées. We are in the Renault showroom and this was a photo opportunity to make a memory with some champions of Formula 1. I don't know all their names, bit I know I am standing next to Joel Shumacher (sp?). Some F1 cars were there and precise descriptions of the race tracks. It was a very cool expo! There was even one showroom, Toyota I believe, with a race car simulator...I can't wait to go back and climb in and attack the track!
Here is a photo of my roomie Suzie, Paulette, and me. We spend our Saturdays with Paulette and do our shopping together in the local open air market. We have made lots of friends at the market! Each Saturday we learn more about our local merchants and quite often they give us freebies. This is one of the aspects of French culture that I have grown to really love. I have known these local merchants for over a year now and they really do become your friends. Paulette is a dear and we love sharing this experience with her!
Now on to my cousin's birthday...here is photo of him quite happily waiting to attack his fajitas at the Rainforest Café at Disney Village West of Paris. My triple salad is in the bottom right corner. So good!
Here is Abdellah and Christophe in front of the Minnie Train. This one is for you Wini and Nick!
Here are some of the wildlife at the Rainforest Café... love the ambiance! The elephant came alive and moved around while we ate!
Here we are the 2 cousins with our meals ready to dig in. We didn't get seated until 10pm! So this was really late at night...forget about class in the morning!
So this is the 2nd week of vacation here. Last week didn't really count since I had class. I am taking a History of Religion Class on Wednesdays and so I still had to go.... This week I have no students and no class! Yeah! Here is a photo of Musée D'Orsay and old train station now a museum in Paris. I went with friends Michael, Larissa, and Sébastien. I love impressionist artist Renoir so this is one of my favourite museums.
To summarize... I went to see "Wassup Rockers" with my cousin, explored Paris with Michael several days, saw the Fender(c) exposition at the Galleries Lafayette. It is very educational and there are lots of beautiful guitars. The theme is Los Angeles right now so I went to check it out! Pretty funny!

The whole CPE thing is dying down now. I am starting to understand more about the CPE. It seems the government made a decision about this law without putting it to a vote...so that was the basic issue. Now I understand more why there was so much of an uproar... and it still is a very hot issue.

I am now at my cousin's visiting and we will probably head out here to do errands maybe go get Swedish meatballs at Ikea! Yummy! This week, I am planning to go to the movies with Paulette and explore Paris with her. Maybe the catacombs with Michael and visit other friends who I have not seen for a while due to busy schedules... Spring is finally showing her pretty sunny self!

Hope you are all having a great week...miss y'all!

Bisous,
Grace
ps scroll down to the previous entry for more pictures... I had to split the blogs into 2.
