I am here!!!!!!!!!

Ok here is the update.
I don't like those goodbyes... I like "see you later"!
It was weird saying "goodbye" this time around. It felt like déjà vu. It was déjà vu!
I especially miss my kitty. She was just getting used to me being around again and was not very happy when the suitcases reappeared in our room. She was all over my suitcases and stuff. She would politely sit on which ever pile I was working as if to say, "No, you must stop this and pet me". If I moved to the next pile, so would she.
Needless to say, I miss you my friends and family. But, this year will fly by even faster then the last one did!

I flew out from LA to Chicago. Chicago, as always, drama, drama. Our scheduled plane's cabin filled with smoke due to an overheated APU or CPU unit? Luckily we were not in the plane just yet. We sat in the airport at the gate while they figured out we needed a new plane and a new gate. We watched CNN with the updates on Rita. Hard to believe this was happening again!
We all played verbal tag with the announcements since we took turns leaving the gate for refreshments and bathroom breaks. At least we got to know each other better before having to move to the new gate and the new plane while we patiently prayed our baggage would follow suit. It did! You go United Airlines!
Got to Paris and my host family from last year was there with all my stuff ready to help me move to Paris. We dropped off my stuff at a friend's apartment and then went to the American restaurant in Paris. Breakfast in America is a very cute diner in Paris. I have always wanted to take my host family there and we did it this time!
I have pictures, but my data chord to transfer them is somewhere in my organizationally dysfunctional apartment.
We had a great lunch. Burgers, fries and a strawberry banana milkshake.
It was great to see the kids! They are all so grown up with the youngest happy to run around and explore.
Then, we walked to the nearby gardens "Jardin de Plantes" and saw ostriches and I believe sun bears? Not sure?

I then, said goodbye to the family and went to back to my friend's to figure out the next step. Graciously, my friend's family helped me move all my stuff in two cars to my new apartment. Then, came the kicker. My new apartment is in a wonderful location very secure, but it is on the 5e. Translation the 5th floor TRANSLATION in English that is the 6th floor! The French start with Rez de Chausée and then start counting! We carried all my stuff up 6 floors- books for school etc. since there is no elevator! I will be nice and fit after this year hee hee!
Got settled in and we did the paperwork stuff and now I am good to go. It is a spacious 2 room apartment. Bedroom/ livingroom with a kitchen, water closet and bathroom. I am having fun and keep pinching myself...is this real...am I in Paris!
I AM!

Kyle moved in Saturday and we are having fun decorating and organizing. We will take pictures just as soon as we feel it is time to present our work.

I have to run here because I am still currently without my contract. It is somewhere here in this country and my mom was sent an email via a fax so I know it exists. I just very much would like the original since it is what I need for the paperwork here.
More later..........
love to all from Paris,
Grace

Congrat's. Glad you are settled. This year should be much easier, as you know everyone and Kyle is there also. Chicago sounded terrible at the airport. God bless you and remember you are God's universal ambassador! Although it may be lonely at times God has gifted you with ability to move amongst various cultures easily.

Hope you land in Paris more smoothly than I landed in Bloomington! When I bought a cable modem from eBay, the post office decided to send it back to the guy sending it to me. I ended up going through two weeks of classes without any Internet connection at home. And my classes all kind of require me to have access, so it was very, very stressful.

I'll be writing soon. :) Take care!
