cousin time!
Here we are!

This is from my visit with my cousin, Colleen, when she stopped through Paris on her way to Poland. Saw Notre Dame, La Fontaine de St. Michel, and the Eiffel Tower. We went a little early to her shuttle stop so we could have lunch- some good French baguette sandwiches.
We thought well, with the suitcase and all we'll take the elevator up to meet her shuttle. When we got in the elevator, the doors didn't shut properly! We got stuck in an elevator right before her bus was supposed to leave. I called the bus company to let them know and the operator couldn't stop laughing! It was actually really funny since there were mirrors in the elevator so we could see out easily and others could see us. There were some nice people who tried to help us out and then wished us good luck. One girl stuck her foot in as if to say yep, y'all are definitely stuck IN there! The repairmen kept calling to tell us not to "move"! MOVE! we couldn't exit the elevator...that is why we called them!
To make a funny story short...Colleen made it to her bus in time for her flight to Poland. We got to meet up on her way back. We zipped back through the underground metro of Paris to meet up with her TGV train. Thanks for the memories Colleen!
gotta run!
grace
p.s. the cold gloomy weather is back and the umbrellas have come back out of the closets here in Paris. And oh boy is it windy! I got to see an umbrella blow inside out and the owner try to right it again. It was very amusing!
p.s.s. Aunt Helen! The bag at our feet is the blue one you made for me! I use it all the time. I can wash it when the Paris grime gets too much for me ...very convenient. Merci Beaucoup!

That sounds, um, interesting, to get stuck in an elevator. I think being able to see other people would make it a lot less claustrophobic.
I'm sorry to see that another person managed today to make the Eiffel Tower a problem by managing to kill himself on it. It would be nice if something that looks so good could be just left alone and not used for incredibly dangerous stunts.
It sounds funny in So Cal to hear that it's cold and gloomy there in mid May, but looking at world maps, I see that Paris is right about the same latitude as the northern border of Montana. I guess it all makes sense. Grace, it seems you're not a liar!! ;)
