La Normandie part III

Here is Borne 0. This means that this was the first place liberated during the invasion of Normandy and is ground 0 for the trail of liberation that these markers mark for kilometers. You can see them every kilometer on the road as you drive along.
This is my cousin and his wife in front of the town hall of Ste. Mère Eglise.

this is HUGE picture, but I wanted you to see how detailed these markers are and how much they honour the Americans who made freedom possible here in France.
on these markers number 1 represents the 48 States that the USA had in 1944.
number 2: the red rectangles represent the 4 paths (I believe that is the translation) and the towns are listed below. Mom do you know what tronçon means? I have to look it up!
number 3: name of the road and date in white on a coloured background.
number 4: Flame of Liberty idea from the Statue of Liberty
number 5:White background number of kilometers and borne number
number 6: Symbol of the 3rd division of the American army under the commanding General Patton
number 7: waves representing the Atlantic Ocean

I had no idea there would be a path to follow like that. I do get tired of Americans acting like all French are ungrateful for the WWII liberation. What country can be summed up by only one attitude? Also, at what point can you start saying, "Thanks for the help before. Now, about what's going on now, I have to disagree" ?
