coucou!

So we made it to PARIS FINALLY!
A friend left me here apartment for the weekend so Colleen and I crashed there for 2 nights.
We got there Friday and ended up being so tired from the week that we just had take out and watched French TV. Saturday, we went to the airport to meet up with some girlfriends from the states and bring them back to where they were to be staying for the weekend. We then hit a major shopping center which had just closed to our dismay. Stores close early in Paris except in one area which I will get to later in this entry. We then went to see Notre Dame and that's when Josia met up with us. We then took the metro up to Montmartre and had dinner below the Basilica. Very entertaining waiter! Then we made a mad dash back the train station to take our girlfriends back home on the last train out. They made their train with 3 minutes to spare. We were happily catching out breath when we heard the dreaded words metro and train service terminated for the night. We followed another group of young men who seemed to know where they were going, but to our dismay they did not! No one could find the exit! Needless to say Parisians do talk and come out of their shell in tight situations! We couldn't find an exit and were quickly getting frustrated with the idea of being stuck underground in the transit system with everybody else also getting frustrated. Finally we found an exit and popped out next to the Arch De Triomphe. We then got in a line at a night bus stop which is on a route that appears VERY LATE at night in Paris and EVERYONE has to use it so it is first come first served and EVERYBODY is trying to get on it. We then found the bus hopped on and squished into a spot only to notice the pedestrians were moving at a faster pace. Traffic at 2 o'clock on the Champs Elysee! The stores were open here! So this is where everyone shops hmmm!
anyways we got to the terminus and had to navigate 7 bus stops to find the one night bus route that would take us back to our apartment. Thanks to Josia for staying with us and making sure we were alright.
Our girlfriends had a scare when they got to their spot but thankfully the gendarmerie showed up and escorted them home in lieu of no bus or taxi in site.
When we got back to the apartment sleep was nowhere in sight due to the adrenaline, so we watched French music videos (interspersed with Amercian) and French theatre that made us laugh so hard (it was superb acting!) it hurt!
well, we ended up getting to bed and sleeping for a little while....Sunday we did the Boat tour on the Seine and saw the Eiffel Tower and did some Champs Elysee window shopping. We do have pictures but still are working on connection...
stay tuned more silly stories to come!
miss you all and thanks for all the mail and emails keep them coming!
Grace
ps I am quickly typing this on a French formatted keyboard so excuse any errors! merci!

wow! Quite a transit adventure; has all the makings
of whirlwind weekend in Paris. All you have to do is
to add a James Bond presence and it would be a best seller. Happy ending shopping. Continue to have a great adventure. Curious if you got much feedback when the US election results came back. God bless, Wayne VCF AP

These are the stories you'll really save as the years go by. Good to see you're appreciating them.

Sounds loads of fun.
